Morocco welcomed 15.7 million tourists in the first nine months of 2026, up 5% on the same period of 2025, according to figures from the Ministry of Tourism published in early October. That is more than 717,000 extra visitors, and September alone brought over 1.5 million arrivals, an 8% rise year on year.
Morocco tourism 2026: key facts
- Arrivals to end-September: 15.7 million (+5%).
- September 2026: more than 1.5 million arrivals (+8%).
- Tourism revenue, January to August: MAD 97.92 billion (about $9.94 billion), up 9.7%.
- Overnight stays in classified hotels to end-July: nearly 25.9 million (+8%).

Revenue grows faster than arrivals
Receipts are rising faster than visitor numbers, which suggests travellers are spending more per trip. Revenue of MAD 97.92 billion for the first eight months is about 81% higher than in the same period of 2022, when it stood at MAD 53.97 billion.
Hotel nights tell a similar story. By the end of July, overnight stays rose 8%, with Ouarzazate up 23%, Rabat 16%, Agadir 11%, and Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier each up 10%.
Where visitors come from
France remains the largest source market, with about 3.62 million arrivals in the first seven months of 2026 (30% of the total, up 7%). Spain follows with 2.6 million (21%, down 3%), then the United Kingdom with 855,523 (up 5%), Belgium with 834,388 (up 8%) and Italy with 695,149 (up 5%).
Smaller markets are growing quickly: Germany rose 10%, the United States 7% to 308,324, and Poland 31% to 140,172.
What it means for 2030
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said the 26 million target for 2030 is closer than ever, adding that the focus now is on generating more value, jobs and opportunities across all regions. Morocco also climbed seven places to 70th of 110 economies in the World Economic Forum’s 2026 Travel & Tourism Development Index, with a score of 3.84 out of 7.
