Hotel groups expand in Morocco
Radisson Hotel Group aims to grow its Moroccan portfolio from 11 hotels to 30 by 2030. Erwan Garnier, the group’s Associate Vice President for Development in Africa, said Morocco offers “a compelling opportunity for hotel development.”
Casablanca-listed hotel company Risma has also been active. It acquired a plot on Tangier’s Corniche, bought CMG, which owns the Radisson Blu Marrakech Carré Eden and its adjoining mall, in deals valued at $67 million, and sold Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche to Pickalbatros for $46 million. In April it expanded its partnership with Accor to renovate hotels and develop the Tangier project.
Morocco Showcase investment event in Casablanca
The third Morocco Showcase takes place on November 26 at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca. Organised by API Events with the Moroccan Agency for Tourism Engineering (SMIT) as institutional investment partner, it will feature a deals room and a closing session where Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech and Rabat present projects to investors.
Murray Anderson, API Events commercial director, described “an unprecedented commitment of global capital” from Gulf sovereign wealth funds and development finance institutions. JLL’s David Desta pointed to visitor demand, air connectivity, tourism initiatives and international brands as the main drivers of investor interest.
What it means for visitors
More rooms should give travellers more choice in the main cities. The expansion follows strong demand: Morocco recorded 15.7 million tourist arrivals by the end of September 2026. If you are planning a trip, see our guide to the best time to visit Morocco.
