Morocco have won the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations for the fourth edition in a row, beating Angola 5-2 in the final in Rabat on Wednesday, October 21, according to reports from Yabiladi and North Africa Post.

A decisive burst in the second half

The final was played in the indoor arena of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex. Reports say Morocco struck three times between the 17th and 21st minutes, through Othmane Idrissi, Youssef Jouad and Driss Raiss El Fenni, with Angola’s João Cambangula replying in between.

Ismail Amazal and Bilal Bakkali then made it 5-1 in the 33rd and 35th minutes, before Anderson Fortes pulled one back for Angola in the 37th.

The road to the final

  • Morocco beat Egypt 6-0 in the semi-final on October 19 at the same venue, with Bakkali, Amazal and Soufian Charraoui each scoring twice, CAF reported.
  • Angola reached the final by coming back from two goals down to beat Algeria 3-2.
  • Morocco, hosts and defending champions, took part in a tournament of eight nations split into two groups of four, played from October 12 to 21.

A growing record

Morocco’s earlier continental titles came in 2016, 2020 and 2024, the last of them also on home soil with a 5-1 win over Angola, per CAF. The new crown gives them a fourth title and a record for the competition, which they had previously shared with Egypt.

The result adds to a busy autumn for Moroccan sport at home, which also saw the country host the U17 Women’s World Cup, as covered in our report on the Lioncelles’ match against Argentina.
