Apple M6 iMac and MacBook Pro: Prices, Specs, Release Date

Apple Pro and Tell event preview: new MacBook Pro, iMac and iPad mini expected

Apple has unveiled the M6 iMac, a refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro with the new M6 chip and an OLED iPad mini ahead of its “Pro and Tell” event on October 28. Pre-orders open this week and all three devices reach stores on November 6, 2026.

This follows our preview of what to expect at the Apple event, and most of the rumours turned out to be right.

Key facts: Apple M6 prices and dates

  • M6 iMac: from $1,499 (four-port model from $1,699), pre-orders October 28, in stores November 6.
  • 14-inch MacBook Pro M6: from $1,999 with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, pre-orders from Wednesday, available November 6.
  • OLED iPad mini: from $699, pre-orders October 28, in stores November 6.

M6 iMac: same design, faster chip

The new iMac keeps the colourful 24-inch 4.5K display and six-speaker Dolby Atmos sound. The big change is the M6 chip, Apple’s first 2nm processor according to TechRadar. The base model now has a 10-core CPU, up from eight, and a 12-core option is available.

Apple claims up to five times faster on-device AI performance than the 2024 M4 iMac, up to twice the graphics speed and up to 1.5 times faster everyday tasks. The 12-core version adds four Thunderbolt 4 ports and a nano-texture glass option, and an optional 2.5Gb Ethernet port is offered. The iMac comes in seven colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

MacBook Pro M6: up to 30% faster graphics

The 14-inch MacBook Pro gets a 12-core M6 and the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. Compared with the M5 model, Apple cites up to 30% faster graphics, up to 25% faster AI workloads and up to 1.3 times faster Xcode builds. The starting price of $1,999 matches the M5 version, so there is no new price increase.

OLED iPad mini and Siri updates

The iPad mini moves to an 8.5-inch OLED display with up to 1,200 nits of brightness, an A20 Pro chip, an IP67 rating and Wi-Fi 7. It starts at $699, which is $150 more than the previous model after a June price rise. Apple also released new software versions that add Siri AI features and extend Siri to more languages.

The focus on local AI performance fits a wider industry trend, as shown by Google Cloud adding OpenAI’s GPT-6 models for enterprise customers.

Should you buy now?

For most buyers the iMac is the easiest upgrade: the same price as before with a faster chip and more cores. MacBook Pro owners with an M5 will see a modest jump, while M4 and older users gain the most. Prices outside the US can differ, so check your local Apple store before ordering.
