Travelers flying out of Rabat-Salé Airport can now drop their own checked bags. Airports of Morocco, the operator formerly known as ONDA, announced on October 23 that six self-service bag drop kiosks are in place at Terminal 2.
How the system works
After checking in, passengers place their hold luggage on the kiosk themselves and follow a guided, fully automated process. At Rabat-Salé the kiosks serve Ryanair passengers, according to Moroccan media reports of the operator’s announcement.
The operator says the aim is to cut waiting times, streamline baggage handling and give travelers more autonomy. Operational estimates put the potential time saving at between 50% and 75%.
A national rollout, one airport at a time
The technology was first launched with Royal Air Maroc at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. Airports of Morocco describes Rabat-Salé as a first step toward gradually extending it to airports across the kingdom, and says nearly two-thirds of passenger flows at Moroccan airports are now covered by the change. No other airports or timeline were named in the reports.
The kiosks sit alongside other digital tools the operator is rolling out, including mobile boarding passes and the Pax Check system.
Why it matters
Traffic is climbing. Moroccan airports handled more than 26 million passengers in the first eight months of 2026, as we reported in our look at the ONDA figures, and new routes such as the Casablanca-Essaouira link will add to the load. Faster bag handling is one way to keep queues manageable as numbers grow.
