Mohammedia will host the first Fdala Atlantic Triathlon on October 10 and 11, an event meant to carry the city’s name beyond its borders and open a new chapter turned toward the ocean. (lematin)
Smart Sport Consulting is organizing it under the Royal Moroccan Triathlon Federation, in coordination with local authorities. The company previously ran five editions of the Tamuda Bay Eco Triathlon and now brings that experience to Mohammedia, aiming to promote the sport and boost the city’s appeal. (lematin)
The event is open to seasoned athletes and amateurs alike. Swimmers will start at Miramar beach, cyclists will ride a circuit through the city, and runners will finish along the corniche. Two formats are on the program. The Sprint, open to individuals and relay teams, covers 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and a 5-kilometer run. The Olympic Aquathlon pairs a 1.5-kilometer swim with a 10-kilometer run. (lematin.ma +2)
Through this first edition, the organizers hope to establish Mohammedia as a sporting destination while showcasing its maritime heritage and its opening onto the Atlantic. (lematin)
I wrote this from the Le Matin report, so the magazine-style framing is mine. Check the race-day schedule and which format runs on which day with the organizers before publishing. I can also adjust the length or tone, or translate it into French or Arabic.
