DC Studios’ Clayface opened at No. 1 at the North American box office this weekend (October 23-25) with an estimated $24 million, according to studio figures. The film added about $19 million overseas for a global debut of roughly $43 million.

Clayface box office opening: the key facts

  • Domestic opening: $24 million from 3,458 screens, including $3.5 million from Thursday previews.
  • Global total: about $43 million, with an estimated $19 million from 76 overseas markets.
  • Audience score: an A- CinemaScore.
  • Budget: reported at $44 million, well below most superhero films.
  • Cast: Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, the shapeshifting title character.

Pre-release tracking had pointed to an opening below $20 million, so the final figure came in ahead of those early forecasts. The strong audience grade suggests word of mouth could help the film in its second weekend.
